Benefits of lighting in tomato cultivation

  • Benefits of lighting in tomato cultivation
    • – maintaining the continuity of cultivation throughout the year,
    • – accelerating the production of seedlings,
    • – shortening the time of obtaining the crop and increasing the number of vegetables produced to about 37% (the yield obtained using LED technology may be within 33 kg / m2 from November to March for 3000 hours of additional lighting),
    • – lack of supply of tomatoes from traditional crops in the early spring period allows to obtain high prices that compensate the production costs – investment and electricity consumption, and thus improve the profitability of the farm.

    Advantages of the TomatoBooster lamp

    • -High efficiency reaching 3.2μmol / J for Professional v2 and 3.4μmol / J for Professional v2 +
    • -The spectrum of photosynthetically active light enhances the generative development of the plant
    • -An increase in yield by about 37% *
    • – Return on investment up to 36 months **
    • -Length of lamps produced to order for the customer’s infrastructure – minimization of assembly costs
    • -Ergonomic profile dimensions minimize plant shading
    • -Possibility to connect lamps in series on a length of up to 140m
    • -Using the latest generation of OSRAM LEDs (TomatoBooster Professional v2 and v2 + lamp)

    * average yield increase in harvest weight by 36.8%, tested in the period from November to March on intensive greenhouse cultivation of raspberry tomato (tomimaru muchoo) in Mazowieckie voivodship on an area of 3000 m2.

** cultivation months requiring additional lighting, i.e. from November to March.

The latest generation – TomatoBooster Professional v2 +

    Efficiency up to 3.4 µmol / J

Growing a greenhouse tomato

In Poland, plants suffer from a light deficit, and hence their productivity decreases. A solution for limited natural light are special lighting systems that are designed to improve the profitability of tomato production under cover. By using artificial lighting, it is possible to control the range of the spectrum and the light intensity and thus modify the growth and development of plants. In the greenhouse cultivation of tomatoes, the assimilation lighting method is used, which consists in lighting plants with limited natural light. The method is used in the period from November to February. In the era of the highest technology, highly efficient LEDs are used as a light source in greenhouse crops, the light spectrum of which is closely matched to a given plant and its stage of development.
