Lighting of the worn type in the form of incandescent light sources, linear fluorescent lamps, fluorescent lamps or high-pressure sodium lamps is not able to meet modern lighting standards for poultry farming. According to Polish legislation, the basic standard for covered spaces is 50 lux. In addition, negative factors such as lamp creaking noise, irritating flashing or the stress of switching lights on and off abruptly cause unnecessary stress among birds. The result is aggressive behavior, increased susceptibility to diseases and the phenomenon of cannibalism. Moreover, excessive stress contributes to the increased mortality of birds due to heart attacks.

Due to the above-mentioned factors, breeders cannot obtain the desired number of eggs, the weight of the broilers is too low and the number of individuals in the flock is gradually shrinking. To prevent this from happening, it is worth investing in modern LED lamps that will reduce losses and improve breeding results.

Realizacja

A specialized product that will meet this challenge and bring profits to breeders is the LED Grow Booster T8 120cm 20W linear lamp. Integration

The subject of the investment was a 120 x 20m chicken run. For this project, 75 Greenie Grow Booster linear lamps with a length of 1.2 m, 20W power and a brightness of 2,400 lumens each were used. The hall lighting design made in the Dialux program assumed the installation of linear lamps in three rows at a height of 3 meters, which allowed for optimal lighting of the entire interior. In this example of an investment, Greenie Grow Booster lamps have been integrated with the control systems available on site, responsible for e.g. for the times of serving food and water and for the temperature inside the hall. In this way, a complete and independent system to support breeding was obtained.

It is computer controlled and is used to reproduce sunrise and sunset times by gradually brightening or dimming the light. This is a much better solution than traditional lights, which are suddenly turned on and off to increase the stress level of the birds. The end cap and the male and female nylon connectors are protected in the IP67 tightness class (resistance to dust and water immersion). As a result, the lamps can withstand a pressure wash of 100 l / min for at least 3 minutes. They are also resistant to fumes from animal faeces and to excessive dust accumulation. The applied protections guarantee a long service life of the devices and eliminate the need for frequent repairs and maintenance. In addition, each lamp is equipped with an internal heat sink to avoid failure.

Full spectrum

As already mentioned, Grow Booster provides the full spectrum of colors necessary for the proper functioning of poultry at every stage of development. The light they provide allows for exactly the same kind of effect as open-range farming. However, many poultry farms are housed in closed halls, without access to sunlight. Red light regulates the endocrine system of birds and allows the chickens to grow faster. This is due to a marked increase in the locomotor activity of birds, which find food much easier and assimilate it better, which in turn translates into much lower feed consumption. Red light can be successfully combined with white. This mixture of two different spectrum types contributes to improved feed conversion and is therefore particularly beneficial for laying hens (as it translates into more eggs) and juveniles (as it stimulates growth).

The use of blue light calms the poultry and reduces stress levels. As a result, relaxed birds do not use energy for running or moving along the paddock, so that it is used entirely for growth and feed absorption. The reduced activity also allows egg collection and sperm sampling from males. The blue light spectrum supports the growth of individuals at later stages of development and maintains their reproductive capacity. Finally, it keeps glucose and triglycerides at the correct level.

In turn, green light stimulates faster growth in the early stage of development of chickens and the proper development of skeletal muscles. Combining green and blue light allows you to increase testosterone production, which promotes muscle development. This translates into a better conversion of the feed that the birds use for growth. Thus, we obtain individuals for meat that are more attractive in terms of weight.
