EX LED Explosion Proof Lighting

The selection of appropriate lighting in potentially explosive places is the main factor determining the safety of work in various types of plants. It is there that, thanks to the use of LED technology, the greatest energy savings can be found. Lower energy consumption of lamps and floodlights has a positive effect on the environment and our health, and allows to significantly reduce operating costs. Our company specializes in explosion-proof LED lighting, which is one of the most important product divisions related to modern LED technologies.

EX LED Explosion Proof Lighting

LED lamps designed to work in zones directly exposed to an explosion are made of the highest quality materials. They are characterized by high resistance to impact, high temperature, moisture and the penetration of dust and gases.

Why is choosing the right lighting in potentially explosive areas so important?

In the event of an explosion that directly threatens human health and life, appropriate lighting enables efficient and effective rescue operation, as well as is very helpful for the crew who found themselves in the endangered place (lighting the escape route). These lamps are, of course, resistant to smaller explosions, not endangering employees, so replacement with a new model after an incident is not necessary.

Lighting elements located in both indoor and outdoor potentially explosive spaces must meet a number of standards that guarantee safety. The necessary condition to qualify the lamp in the explosion-proof category is the fulfillment of the CE and ATEX directives issued by the European Union. Lamps, luminaires and floodlights that meet its requirements are marked with the “EX” symbol. They are characterized by a high degree of protection (IP66, IP67, IP55) – they are fully protected against the ingress of dust and dirt, resistant to moisture (fully waterproof).

Danger zones

All explosion-proof lighting fixtures must meet the parameters adapted to the type of explosion hazard zones and the properties of the mixtures present in them. We divide them according to the danger zones in which they can work – 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, 22:

– in zone 0, the mixture of air and gases, liquids and vapors that is present in the room is a permanent hazard or one that lasts for very long periods
– zone 1 defines an area where an explosion may occur sporadically
– 2nd zone shows places where the risk of explosion is negligible

Application

Explosion-proof lighting is used in the chemical, petrochemical, metallurgical, military, power, pharmaceutical, food and textile industries. Luminaires are used to illuminate halls and industrial plants, refineries, ramps, sawmills, mills, cooling chambers, coal-coke boiler houses and many other technical rooms.
